Our take
The release of the free Starter Pack on November 5, 2026, serves as a strategic push to drive sales ahead of the March 2027 Switch 2 port. By offering the 'Against All Odds' mission for free, IO Interactive allows players to experience the game's unique take on Bond's origin story, potentially converting the 3 million players who have already purchased the game into advocates for the upcoming sequel.
Background
007 First Light is an adventure game developed and published by IO Interactive that features a new version of James Bond’s origin story. The game was released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with a Nintendo Switch 2 port scheduled for March 18, 2027. The game has received positive reception, including a 5/5 rating from VGC, and passed 3 million copies in under two weeks of launch.
IO Interactive has a history of offering free opening missions for its games, such as HITMAN World of Assassination. The 007 First Light Starter Pack follows this model, allowing players to experience the prologue set in Iceland, which introduces a younger, rookie version of James Bond before he achieves his iconic spy status.

Our read of the evidence
Mostly unverified. Both release details come only from reports by comingsoon.net and tbreak.com, with no primary source confirmation from the publisher. The PC and Xbox launch on November 5 and the PS5 arrival on November 10 rest solely on these outlets' reporting. The Nintendo Switch 2 release scheduled for March 18, 2027, also remains unverified pending official confirmation.
Our rating counts evidence, not opinions about anyone: events confirmed by a primary source (the person's own post, their official site, a court or government record) weigh most, then how many independent outlets report the story.
